Behind The Scenes

outdoor adventure is my passion, storytelling is my purpose

Step into the creative process behind some of my biggest projects, where I every film begins with a spark of inspiration and unfolds into something extraordinary. On this page, I share the raw, unfiltered moments that bring these stories to life - moments of connection, problem-solving, and the sometimes chaotic beauty of filmmaking in the wild.

These behind-the-scenes videos offer an intimate look at what it takes me to create films that resonate. From setting up cameras in remote locations to capturing the perfect shot on the side of a mountain, each video showcases the creativity, collaboration, and grit required to tell stories that matter.

Through this glimpse behind the curtain, I hope to share not just the "how," but the "why" -why I choose to tell these stories, why the process is as important as the result, and why every behind-the-scenes moment is part of a larger journey to inspire and connect through film.

Behind the Scenes

Behind the Scenes of a music documentary

After two years, five states, two countries, months of editing and thousands of dollars invested into creating this documentary, it’s finally complete.

Learn more about how I created this piece about Nashville based musician Ryan Kinder training to complete the Ironman World Championship while writing/recording his second full-length country rock album.

Behind the Scenes of An All-Women’s Cycling Film

I created a short documentary about a group of women that are working to create a more inclusive community for female cyclists. I was approached by Jelenew, an all-women’s cycling company with a mission to empower and uplift female cyclists. They wanted to create a film that showcased the inclusivity, camaraderie, and resilience within the women’s cycling community. For me, it was a no-brainer.

This is the story of how I made that film...

Behind the Scenes filming with an olympian

I directed a short documentary with an Olympic runner Dom Scott in the lead up to the Chicago Marathon. Filming with an Olympian isn’t just about capturing their athletic prowess; it’s about documenting their grit, resilience, and in this case, their approach to hydration.

My shoot with Olympic runner Dom Scott, an athlete from South Africa, offered an incredible opportunity to showcase how Hydrapak’s products fit into the daily life of a marathoner.

This is a behind-the-scenes look at my Emmy nomination for Unseen Peaks. I always say outdoor adventure is my passion and storytelling is my purpose. Getting nominated for this story in the diversity/equity/inclusion category was such an honor.

Behind the Scenes of a ski film

As an adventure filmmaker, filming on ski resorts or in the backcountry is often an important part of the job. In this video, I’ll walk through my process for creating some beautiful visuals on the mountain and take you on set of my film about a paralyzed skier…

How to Film Rock Climbing

On a climbing expedition to the desert, I took a moment to outline everything you need to know about how to successfully film rock climbing from rope work to composition to camera settings and gear.

How to Film Surfing

As a surf filmmaker, it's so exciting to bring your camera to the beach and begin capturing what you love. However, there's more to filming surfing than just pointing your camera at some surfers and hoping for the best.
